Bangladesh Navy going to build 6 new frigates at the Chittagong Dry Dock Ltd. Chinese Type 057 guided missile frigate design has been finalized. Although, it will be Chinese ship but it would have sub-systems from Italy. Armaments also include non-Chinese sources like Russia or Italy. Six ships will be built for the Bangladesh Navy in the next decade. For the purpose CDDL being modernized and expanded by the BD Navy with China’s help.  Six such ships will be cost almost $2.3bn for the next 10 years. Besides these heavy frigates Bangladesh going to build eight more Shadhinota-class stealth corvette derived from the Chinese Type 056 Jiangdao-class corvette, of which China Navy building around 50. Chittagong Dry Dock Limited will build heavy stealth frigates for the Bangladesh Navy. CDDL or Chittagong Dry Dock Ltd currently owned by the Bangladesh Navy (BN) established as a complementary to the Chittagong Port Authority under Bangladesh Steel & Engineering Corporation. It was intended to maintenance and repair Bangladeshi flagships & those commercial cargo & container vessels touches Chittagong Port.  In 2015 Government of Bangladesh handed over the CDDL to the BN. After that the navy planned to build heavy frigates, large container vessels and alike. Already CDDL built a cargo vessel. Khulna Shipyard (KSY) Limited was established in 1957 and currently being operated by the Bangladesh Navy. KSY Ltd has built the Durgam-class ASW large patrol craft for BN. After establishment, KSY built and repaired many cargo & container vessels. It also manufacture various steel structures for industry and infrastructure building.  This shipyard was handed over to the Bangladesh Navy in 1999 with a large sum of debt. After 2008 KSY paid all its debt and started making profit. Now it is the largest tax payer in the Khulna divisional region. DGDP, Bangladesh ordered two LCT for Army. These contract was awarded to Western Marine Shipyard Ltd. LCTs are the vessels carry and land main battle tanks, APCs, IFVs, ACVs and many military vehicles. Bangladesh Army’s LCTs can be able to carry 200 soldiers along with 40 officers, while it’s main role of carrying MBTs are 8 in number. A deal was signed between managing director of WMS and Deputy Director Purchase (Army Wing-1) Col. Chowdhury Fazle Ali. Total program costs around 770 million BDT. These Landing Craft Tanks are 64 meter in length. Can operate in the stormy shores of Bangladesh and riverine regions too. These vessels will boost Bangladesh Army’s combat operational capabilities into a new height. In future more LCTs will be built in home.
