Defense Update Bangladesh

In May 11, Bangladesh and india signed an defense agreement. Under this agreement india will finance Bangladesh’s military purchases. Bilateral military training exchange is also a part of this deal. Although, majority of the Bangladeshis are not happy and furious about this agreement Sheikh hasina government which is not elected forcefully done this.  Navies of both countries are also signed an MoU under which indian GRSE and Bangladesh Navy’s Khulna Shipyard will work together but in which project no clue. Many expert saying that this agreement going to bind Bangladesh for indian approval to buy anything for her armed forces. Patriotic Bangladeshis seeing this agreement as a treachery of the current government.  Everyone knows Bangladesh is the 3rd biggest remittance source of india. As the 21st century goes on with all its technological advancement, military equipment’s also getting changed with the prospects of newer one. Bangladesh Army, as other ones, also moving forward with the “Future Soldier” concept to modernize its infantrymen across divisions. Future Infantrymen Program is nothing but needs huge research and hence demands large budget. Bangladesh hasn’t big military budget, and trying to cope up with already commercially available high-tech equipment that can be part of the program. These includes high-tech, high performance and robust communication instrument, enhanced weapons like assault rifles, pistols, LMGs, SMGs etc., advanced technology uniforms and some other gears.

Special Security Force, Bangladesh is a law enforcement agency which is tasked with to protect prime minister, president and foreign dignitaries to visit the country. It was founded in 1986 as the President Guards Regiment or PGR.  This force comprised of Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Air Force, Bangladesh Navy, Police, Border Guard Bangladesh and from other para military forces. Special Security Force (SSF) has been trained in the European Security Academy (ESA) in Poland. Which training includes how to response promptly in any unexpected and non-conventional threats against high profile entities of the state. Agents of SSF are capable of use any types of weapons and small arms available and have been trained to repulse any terror attacks.
