Defense Update Bangladesh

First manned flight happened in Bangladesh in 1882. The then Nawab of Dhaka Khwaja Ahsan Ullah arranged the occasion. He invited famous American professional balloonist Jeanette Van Tassel and her mother Jenny Rumary Van Tassel to Dhaka.  Jeanette Van Tassel started with her hot air balloon at 6:20 pm in 16 March, 1882. The plan was to fly from the south bank of the river Buriganga to the roof of the Ahsan Manzil, the palace of the Nawab Ahsan Ullah. But due to gusting wind her balloon missed the targeted landing point of Ahsan Manzil’s roof top. She flew away to the gardens of the Shahbag. There her balloon crashed in a bamboo thicket.

Bangladesh Coast Guard is responsible for the security of the country’s coastal regions. Primarily it was just a riverine type force. Now Government of Bangladesh take initiatives to improve BCG’s patrolling capabilities and expanding the force.  General activities and modernization process of Bangladesh Coast Guard has been presented in this documentary film.

Bangladesh Army (BA) will buy Russian Pantsir S1 Surface-to-Air Missile Gun system. Bangladesh Military power increasing by acquiring most advanced weapons systems. Bangladesh Air Force already deployed Chinese FM-90B SHORAD system. Russian Pantsir S1 is an incredible air defense system which will boost Bangladesh’s defense capabilities.  Low to extremely low flying aerial targets can be engaged with high probabilities of hit by this SAM system. Pantsir S1 can detect, track and hit aircrafts, helicopters, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, UAVs etc. It has a limited capabilities to engage ground targets too. This SAM system can fire some armor-piercing projectiles.  The 30mm dual cannon designed from the aircraft gun and its rounds has a maximum range of 4km while minimum is 2 meter.
