Bangladesh Air Force once operated a squadron of the legendary Mig-21 fighter jets, were gifted by the Soviet Union and india. In 1990s all of them were grounded as their lifespan ended. Bangladesh Air Force chief flew fighter jets after assuming the office. Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Masihujjaman Serniabat has flown FT-7BG & F-7BGI fighter jets to assure the nation that our sky is safe! He recently been appointed as the CAS replaced Air Marshal Abu Esrar. He joined Bangladesh Air Force Academy on 16 March 1980 and graduated from BAF Academy in June 1982. He was commissioned in Bangladesh Air Force on 19 June 1982 in General Duties (Pilot) Branch.  The Air Officer is a qualified flying instructor and an accomplished Fighter Pilot and an active flyer. He flew various types of aircrafts. He had the unique opportunity of commanding three Fighter Squadrons of Bangladesh Air Force and he had been the pioneer Squadron Commander of the coveted Mig-29 Fighter Squadron.

Bangladesh Air Force not buying Mig-35! It is a shocking, though, not surprising as Russia demanded unnatural prices. Firstly Moscow offered Bangladesh their Su-30SME the new variant of the Su-30 family. Then they asked for a price that is usually very high from others they got.  After that BAF opt for Su-35 and again, Russia played its price card and asked BAF to buy their Mig-35 along with it. If Bangladesh don’t buy Mig-35 then Russia said they’ll not sell Su-35 to Dhaka. Under this circumstance, MRCA program stalled. After long negotiation process Bangladesh opt out Russian jets and seeking a single-engine multirole fighter jet from somewhere else.
