Bangladesh Army to Build 14,000 Shelters for Rohingya Refugees in 10 DAYS

Bangladesh Army tasked to build 14000 makeshift shelters for the Rohingya refugees. With the help of United Nations and other aid authorities from around the world Bangladesh Government arranging the whole work. Along with the army other armed forces and paramilitary will also participate to successfully finish the job in time. 


Bangladesh Army has reputation to complete such construction projects in due time with higher quality. Previously Bangladesh Army carried out such construction works and completed the “Ashroyon Prokolpo” for the homeless peoples funded by the government and various donor organizations in the past. 

8 square kilometer area has been selected near Bangladesh-burma border in Cox’s Bazaar and Teknaf to build the refugee shelters. Each shelter will accommodate six families and such 14000 thousand shelters will allow 84000 families to live temporarily there. Various donors included UNHCR, EU, USAID, Canada, JAICA etc. are providing funds and other allied resources. Almost 700,000 Rohingya peoples took refuge in Bangladesh’s southern districts of Cox’s Bazaar, Teknaf and Bandarban.
