Bangladesh Navy Building Biggest Submarine Base of the Country to Home New Submarines & Other Naval Warships

Bangladesh Navy now a three-dimensional armed force of the country by operating two Chinese Type 035G Ming-class submarine, which was commissioned in active in last 12 March this year. Bangladesh Navy is constructing a new base at Rabanabad in Patuakhali named BNS Sher-E-Bangla, which will be the country's largest naval base with submarine berthing and aviation facilities.  Meanwhile, a separate submarine base is under construction at Pekua in Cox's Bazar. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had observed the ceremony and inaugurate the commissioning of these 2 submarine of Bangladesh. BNS Sheikh Hasina is a new naval base being developed for the Bangladesh Navy. This will be the first full-fledged submarine base of Bangladesh Navy. Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone of a submarine base in Pekua in the coastal city of Cox’s Bazar. China handed over the two Type 035G Ming-class submarines to the Bangladesh Navy on 14 November 2016.

DGDP Issued Tender for HQ-16/LY-80 medium range surface-to-air missile for Bangladesh Army: Chinese developed HQ-16B or LY-80 air defense missile system will be inducted with Bangladesh Army air defense unit soon. Earlier Bangladesh acquired FM-90 SHORADS from China and deployed to protect Bangladesh Ordinance Factoriess (BOF).  LY-80 has most advanced search radar which is capable to detect targets upto 140 kilometers away and target them from 1.5 km – 40 km. HQ-16/LY-80 can detect 144 targets and track 48 while can engage 2 of them simultaneously.  It is a very eeficient surface-to-air missile system which is being deployed by the Chinese Armed Forces on land and naval warships to protect high-value military and civil targets from enemy aircrafts and missiles. Bangladesh Air Force issued tender for 4++ Gen. Long-Range Maritime Strike & Offensive Fighter Plane: Bangladesh Armed Forces Services’ Directorate General of Defence Purchases (DGDP) has issued an international tender In February 28, 2017, for eight multi-role maritime combat aircraft, additionally options for four more, for the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF). From previous acquisition pattern BAF will purchase these fighter jets from Russia. News already circulating in web that Russian United Aircraft Corporation expecting to grab the contract. UAC will propose their Mig-35S, Su-35S and Su-30SM 4++ generation fighter jets for the bid. These aircrafts will be deployed to protect its territorial water body in the Bay of Bengal.
