Two Chinese Navy multirole frigates will be inducted by Bangladesh Navy in 2018. Maybe Type 053H3 or Type 054 are coming to BN. Bangladesh increasing its naval fire power faster to protect total 118,813 square km of sea waters. China helping Bangladesh to build a formidable navy in the Bay of Bengal.

Bangladesh seeks more modern air-defence frigates and capable littoral combat warships. And those ships should be built locally in Khulna Shipyard and or in Chittagong Dry Dock Limited. This will give commercial off-set to Bangladesh.

In future Bangladesh Navy will be the second largest powerful navy with large fleet of surface combatants in the South Asia and one of the most powerful in Asia. Naval aviation with Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) and Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) is being shaped and sub-surface force started its journey with two chinese submarines.

Bangladesh has to protect it maritime boundary from illegal fishing, illegal human trafficking, drugs & goods smuggling through naval route from Burma. Large portion of drugs smuggled in Bangladesh from burma through Bay of Bengal.

There are plenty of hydrocarbons under the sea bed of the Bay of Bengal. Bangladesh got its right to explore those non-living marine assets from continental shelf. Previously in 2008 myanmar navy sneaked into Bangladeshi territorial waters and started to survey for hydrocarbon resources. Bangladesh navy goes on and made Burmese ran away. After that Bangladesh Navy decided to enhance its naval power with various types of naval platforms. According to some credible sources, Bangladesh going to build Chinese PLAN Type 056 Jiangdao class stealth ASW corvettes in Khulna Shipyard and PLAN PLAN Type 054A Jiangkai II multipurpose guided missile stealth frigates in Chittagong Dry Dock Limited for BN.

When the ships will be inducted into the fleet Bangladesh Navy will be the second largest surface combatant force in the South Asia and one of the most powerful navy in Asia. Yet those planning to come into fruition, though, Bangladesh expanding naval force very rapidly with high-tech equipment.
